Shark attacks move north as average ocean temp anomalies* increase

Shark attacks increase as ocean temperature anomalies also increase over 100 years. Hot spots (North Atlantic, South Africa and Australia) remain relatively consistent, but there is also a trickling of attacks north as well as an increase in the Pacific Coast.

Shark attacks and surf culture rise together

White sharks, historically the most revered, are involved in the largest number of attacks on humans. While attacks from white sharks are on the rise, tiger sharks also pose a threat to divers and surfers and an attack on humans is just as deadly. Popular culture, literature, movies, and sports are forces driving people to the oceans, increasingly encroaching on shark habitats.
